oo sounds smashing! Have a lovely time and I would love to see the before and after pics, I can start taking the before on Saturday . Hammerite it is then I think!
The walls have what appears to be something like that contour 'tiling on a roll' stuff, will have to have a closer look, being able to give it a wallop of paint inside sounds ideal!
(Paul) Mine seems very similar to yours, same age (ish) same color, only mine has more windows, so i think it is a bit longer...
I will get some photo's posted after this weekend and check the Frame for a model number or year.
we are going over to my brother's house where it is stored and cleaning the inside, as we cleaned the outside a few days ago. I think I may polish and wax it, to help keep it clean and in a bit better condition, it sat for 3 years so it needs a little TLC
I just loaded Photo's..
can anyone tell me
1) what year i have
2) what is that electrical do-dad in the photo, we are thinking that is the reason the running lights are not working when plugged into the truck...
Your Plate tells me it is a an Esterel Supermatic C46. The 46 is the body lengh 460cm. Get yourself underneath and look at the plate on axel. That will give you the date. As for the electrical component, well at first sight it looks like an old buzzer. The round bit looks like a coil. It could even be a relay (electric switch). What its function is I havnt the slightest. Shame I am over here as I would be able to tell you after a short inspection, and get your lights working.
Over here in the UK we have to have a bleeper on the indicators (in Car) which bleeps when the trailer is plugged in.
Have a look at the site below. It will be of interest to most Estrel owners. I say most because some dont know the slightest thing or care about what they are towing "Whats a tyre pressure?". The sight is in German but can be translated using Googles translater
Thanks for that link Badger!! We now know more about 'Ethelburt'! We were a bit confused at first as we were told he weighed 850kg, but looking at the specs and tyre size we think he's a Supermatic Super Export 39 built between 1979-1982 ...
Series: Super Export
This model was a special model with a slightly different classification as normal in a 39er, just like the Caramatic Matic and Super 42 models. This 39er export superpower has therefore also a toilet room. The second bed is but a bit narrower as the other 39er models. Just like the 42 models is only the second bed 125 cm wide.
There is only one model in this series.
Super Matic 39,
Structure Length 395 cm, width 207cm construction, collapsed 128 cm high, inside height 189 cm, 508 cm length dead.
Curb weight 670 kg, maximum weight 850 kg, 155x13 tires
We came to this conclusion as ours has the toilet room and the other Supermatic 39 hasn't. Will double check the plate tomorrow and endeavour to crawl under and find the date on the underside!

Hello Andi,
when I painted mine I used Hammerite smooth white on the exterior which makes it look like new, and inside we used vinyl silk emulsion, which is great because we can change the colour whenever we want to,easy to keep clean too,I do have some pics of the 'before' and 'after' but sorry I dont have time to put the pics up as we are just off out the door to enjoy our first holiday with our new look Esterel
Did you use Hammerite on the roof as well? With that part being fibreglass we're not sure if we should use yacht or coach paint there instead?
