We previously owned a TT and have recently purchased a Pennine Pullman. I never really gave much thought to stopping off at motorway services and used to just pull into a double (length) parking space so that I could just drive straight out again when ready to go - never experiencing any trouble.

With the Pullman being much wider & longer than the TT, does anybody know if this is allowed, or whether I should be parking in the caravan spaces instead?

My next trip is in Cornwall and I would like to stop off on the M5 on the way down. I shouldn't need to pay for parking as the stay will be 1hr or less, but I'm not sure how the traffic wardens would take to me using (maybe) 3 spaces - 2 for the trailer & 1 for the car?

I understand the services are patrolled by wardens and generally have a 2hr maximum (free) stay. I obviously don't want to start my holiday off with a parking ticket, and would never leave the unit unattended during the stop-off.

Any advice or comments please?

We usually go where the caravans, trucks & buses go when towing.  Never had an issue.  No problems leaving the thing whilst you go for a meal etc. I think the idea of making money from you whist in the services may be the reason for that!

i generally park with the caravans and vans ,a little further to walk but friendly caravan owners will keep an eye on your TT as you dash off for a wee or a burger designed to look the opposite of its picture

We park our Pathfinder in with the caravans. Make sure you put the lock on the hitch when you go for your walk. It would indeed be a very jobsworth who would say you couldn't park here.

I hope I don't have to reverse between them

We always park with the caravans etc too , last time though some silly muppet of a woman (not even towing) came in the exit and parked nose to nose in front of us!!! Brain dead is not even a good enough description. Needless to say she got the sharp side of my tongue and decided to move to a more apt space.17
