Hiya everyone,  my ancient pullman doesn't have a table that can be used for the spare bed - one that can be let down and used as the base of the bed in the seating area.  I have looked online and don't seem able to find a suitable one so am looking for ways to get something that can be used for a bed base.

I was wondering if the bed slats you can get from Ikea - meant for the base of normal beds - would be any good.  I thought they could be laid over the space at night, the cushions put over and then just put away during the day, but wonder if the middle of this would need supporting somehow in the middle.  What do you reckon?

I'm sure you could get a strong piece of hard board from b & q cut to the right size, only problem is its a pain when not in use to store, or as you say make bed slats either from IKEA or cut pieces of pine, should work fine

Hi

You can get a table from pennine expensive though £76.56 plus p&p. I'd check the size first though.

You can also just buy the folding table legs(ebay) and screw them onto hardboard 17

Do you know I searched the Pennine pages till my eyes were sore loking for them and didn't find them!!  It doesn't mention any sizes so I guess they are a standard size?

Would I need to put the rails/plinths on the seat bases to help support it or would it be ok just to lower it and use it like that?

Thanks Julie, that might be an idea :)

Sorry, I think I have just discovered the reason for the >>.

No funny handshake needed after all - I justr need to get a brain that remembers I have already asked the question in another thread.

Apologies to all for my 'senior moment'!!

Sheet of plywood from BandQ would be my choice. Easy to cut to size, could get them to do it. Also just leave it flat on the floor to store it if the lockers it rests on taper in towards the floor.

When we had a caravan the middle part of the back double bed, was missing.  We went to our local timber yard with the measurements of what we needed.  They cut a bit of ply to size.  OH then tacked some batten onto it to hold it secure when being used. It worked a treat.

Ha ! Yes, I'm in the funny handshake gang (not) !

As (Groucho ?) said, I'd never join any club that would have me as a member.

No, I was trying to be helpful, putting in a "bump" >> so that the thread sat back at the top with your other post re tables.

And now just to show I get those senior moments too, I've just read your next post where you answered your own question.

I'm very tired and need a lie down.
