We're thinking of driving up into Scotland late August, and from the south coast it's a long day's drive. I don't want to be setting up the trailer tent late in the evening so what do others do when faced with this? Stop along the way? Book into an off-motorway hotel that'll accept them parking in the car park and hope your wheel clamps and hitch locks do the trick?
we have stayed in travel lodges with camper before now -most have cctv and if you let them know they will also ask nite reception to check on it through nite. never had any problems. (we do use tow hitch lock etc just to be sure though)
Just a thought - we usually use the travellodges that are just off the main motor ways i.e blackburn/ lymm etc so possibly not as much a target if you know what i mean. - see caravan thread on here re caravan stolen from services!!!
Thanks Nina that was just what I was hoping to hear!
I've two wheel clamps plus hitch lock and aren't sentimentally attached to anything in the TT, and I wondered if the travelodges let you leave a hitched trailer or fc in the parking overnight. I don't plan on doing it a lot however the Highlands are nine hours drive from where we live.
we went up to Cannich in Scotland the other year, and booked a couple of nights stop over on way there and back, just to break the journey which worked well for us
