hi we have just purchased an old erka trailer tent which needs waterproofing, can u tell me which is the best stuff to buy for the canvas please the tents is over 30 yrs old also the trailer tent leg is missing!! so what can we do about that, also the other 3 legs dont touch the floor can any one help pleasethanks ....
The spare leg is an issue but you sould be able to fashion a replacement out of a spare tent pole. If you get one of those universal adjustable poles you might be able to cannibalise it for parts.
Waterproofing, you can either use Grangers or Fabsil, which is astronomically expensive (about £120 for a whole TT plus awning), or Thompsons Waterseal (form a builders merchants, make sure you get the one which says it does canvas, don't be put off by it being essentially a brick sealant) which is about a quarter of the price
thank you ,as u said the legs should be adjustable but they just fell out of the underneath of the trailer and they wouldnt reach the floor... but thanks again for you help
My sister in law has a story and half about her second hand TT. Please all i say is make sure you have good legs and its all secure, put it this way before to long they thought they was in a proper tent by the distance between them and the ground once they got into bed .
Very funny it was....but yes....the bed broke free of the trailer body. One bracket ripped through (our head end), so there I was head on the floor feet up in the air laughing so hard I couldn't move. I wouldn't wish it on anyone though as it's a bit of a shock to the system if your bed falls a few foot whilst your in it I would suggest you go over your legs and bed boards thoroughly....just to be sure.

thanks for that lol, i will be makeing sure we stay put !! we have a friend who is going to fix the problem tomorow i hope as we are due to go away friday for the first ever time in the trailer im keeping everything crossed.

thanks nicky hopefully all will go well tomorow , looking forward to the weekend then she will go away till next year when we will have lots of happy camping to look forward to, our friend has sorted the legs for us so im keeping everything crossed and i wont end up on the floor
Got to be fair blog had a bargain , the cabin and the awning in very good condition, just needs waterproofing, big enought for what they want, yes its old but it will do them till they save enough to get a newer one in maybe a years time. One leg was a bit wonky donkey but all sorted with a new leg.
