Thought you might like to know the Raclet 2010 range is out and ready.
It's a big change this year. Firstly, they are discontinuing the Jasmine/Santale and Globetrotter models - a big pity for the Globetrotter, but it never made the sales here it could have done - and moving much more towards the super-quick erect end of the market.
All the tents are smarter and more modern, and I am pleased to see that Raclet have finally introduced a bit of modern styling into their interiors.
The Solena and Allegra, which are like Combi-Camps without the £7k price tag (or, to be fair, without the lovely kitchens) are in new and smarter colours (the blue and grey).
The Quickstop, which was the rival to the small FC units like the Challenger now has a hooped awning like some Cabanons, but unlike the cabanons it is very quick to erect.
The Safari has the new styling and is available with or without a kitchen unit. In it's guise without it is by far the fastest "trad" TT to put up, and looks much smarter as well.
The new model is - slightly randomly - called the "moovea". No, it's not a TT for cows. It's a bit like the Allegra, except that it doesn't have a fold-over hard floor, it has a pram hood style affair which needs pegging. I don't know the pricing but it should be toward the budget end of the market.
But, typically for Raclet, they've updated the french bit but not the UK bit, so you have to read it in french. The new 2010 catalogue is in both.
You have to have the right mindset to like Raclets. They are better made in terms of canvas and poles and structure than nearly any other TT. On the other hand, the interior fittings are mostly stuck in the 1990s, and they don't go to a lot of effort to hide rivets and bolts etc.
If you can wait to buy new ones until may-june time, you can get them direct from the importer for Sunncamp prices, but with Camp-Let quality.
you seem to be all knowing on the Raclet range ...
I loved the Safari when I first started looking last summer, however my budget didn't stretch that far and I got a bargain 2005 Raclet Minto of ebay (lovely people selling!).
The awning takes a bit of time to put up even though I have colour coded poles and the beds were really comfy but...
everyone laughed at our curtains :-( - apart from our friends 4 week old baby who seemed to love gazing at them?
I took a look at the French website and it certainly looks like Raclet have updated their image, any chance of buying new curtains for a Minto?
We LOVE our Allegra - it does exactly what we need it to do. Nice and quick for overnight stops, and a lovely awning for longer stays. It always generates interest on camp-sites.
Bought our Flores 480 last year.........thank goodness. Couldn't afford a new one and they aren't making them this year
Love ours to bit's. The extra space with two large teenage sons is brilliant. We've had so many positive coments on sites and people asking for a look see, I should be on commission Even my Mum was impressed and that's quite an achievement.
My 8 year old neice says it looks like a circus tent, which is great as it always makes me smile. We have a lovely new tent carpet (Kyham Aspen) to try out next season, so can't wait.
Will pop along to the Raclet exhibition next summer, just so we can plan what to get when we can downsize...new ones look very smart (though I still love ther cheerful colours of the Flores range).
You can no longer get new curtaind for the Minto, but the curtains from the Flores/Floreal or Jasmin/Santale models will fit the awning. You are stuck with the cabin interior I'm afraid.
Try Raclet UK, on 0118 979 1023 for Flores curtains.
Or you can make your own really easily. Amongst other people, tony wild camping sell the curtain clips, or you could harvest them off the old curtains. A denim needle on a sewing machine will sew straight through the plastic tabs.
Alternatively, join the great group of Raclet owners who have got an amazing bargain and don't give a stuff if the dodgy blue and yellow colour scheme is out of fashion! Go on, you know you want to....
Nothing, actually. But I went to the Raclet tent show last year in Codicote ans I was at a real loose end (I live nearby), and I made friends with Adrian who runs Raclet UK, and ended up selling two TTs for him...
Thing is, if you are the sort of person who doesn't care about looks but does care about engineering and canvas quality, and you are on a budget then Raclets are by far and away the best choice, no contest.
But if you need your Camp-Let style beautiful fibreglass and plastic kitchen, or your Trigano sexily shaped mouldings then I would steer clear.
But the new Moovea looks like a really serious contender in the budget market. It's a cross between a Camp-Let and a Combi-Camp. Good stuff.
