Hello - I have just ordered a Camplet Concorde and am wondering whether to purchase the factory fitted bike rack for 4 bikes as well. Problem is it's pricey at around £300.00 - particularly when I already have 3 roof mountable racks already. Reason for my hesitation is that my exisiting racks are designed to fit around standard square roof bars with U-Bolts.  Althought the fitted rack on top of the Camplet sits close to the roof there is enough flex in the Camplet roof to get the U-bolts under the bars. However the diameter of the bars on the Camplet looks to be only around 20mm and I am wondering whether I would be able to get a secure enough fit and whether with 4 bikes on the trailer - around 60kg - the Camplet rack is up to the job. Has anyone any experience of using non factory fitted roof mount type racks on a Camplet?? Thanks in anticipation of any help anyone can give me. Paul

hi we had a four bike rack fitted to our camplet, the camplet one when we bought our unit in august and towed four mountain bikes to the loire and back we would recommend getting camperlands in manchester to fit the propr rack as it is designed for the camplet, by the way the camplet is a seriously good piece of kit easy to use and great to tow.

Paul

I posted a while ago in this thread which may help as well.

I have used mine every time we go away and the rack is (very) expensive but secure. The good thing about the Camplet rack (apart from it being specificaly designed for the purpose) is that the inverted V bar that holds the frame of the bike is quite wide where it joins the frame on the rack and stops any sideways movement in the bikes.

I use foam/carrymat around the bike frame to stop scratching as the clamp does not have this on it. Also less wind resistance with them on the trailer (depending on the car you tow with).

Thanks for your thoughts David and Kasglass. Am veering towards the purpose built rack. Thanks again. paul
