Hi, we have camped in a folder camper of one or another make for years and loved them all. We have camped in Scotland frequently (although I live in the south) and Wales and have survived storms where awnings were being shredded off caravans - too rigid I guess. But we have always been in a canvas camper. I don't like Dandy's because of (on the couple we've seen) the pvc (condensation) and how fiddly it was to put away - VERY. Anyway, we have always been toasty and dry. HAve you tried Outriggers Camping & Leisure
Hope you find your dream one and have as happy a time as we have had!
Well pics will be posted today as I have charged the batteries on the digi camera!!
Caz, that actually sounds fine. We have the hook up lead and an extension for it that we used in the tent but only ran a small lamp and awning light from it so wasnt sure how much power we could safely use!We would be using a portable tv, a small chiller fridge and the same wee lamp and awning light. I dont use an electric kettle as half the fun is making hubby get up first to get the kettle on the gas!! No microwaves or toasters either cos if my wee kitchen 2 rings and grill cant cook it we buy it LOL. Also have warned teenage daughter that the hairdryer and straighteners can only be used in sockets in loos where fitted (guess how well that went down!) I have a small gas fire and we will try that out before we think of a different style of heating so no heaters plugged in either.
Caroline, thanks for the advice but we actually found putting Dandy up/away easier than our tent!!! Yes the roof is heavy and tricky but im sure with practise we will master that also. And as for condensation we will get that anyway with the 5 of us heavy breathing and fighting all day LOL.

Our tent hookup lead was 16 amp exactly the same as the pathfinder. Don't tell the daughter but so long as you turn the heater off she could use her hair gadgets! Glad you got one while we were away ironically Bromyard is twelve miles away so we could have visited for you! Just gone to look at your profile looks great just like a pvc pathfinder! Perhaps we'll see you when you venture south.

------------- Good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.
Hi Jan, hope you had a good time away! Never mind visiting for us, If I had known I would have told you to get the kettle on LOL! And no, straightners are out LOL!!Didnt mind driving down (3 hours roughly and had a babysitter!) as was peaceful day for hubby and I. If only we could go get one every week without work interupting. I have put a couple of pics on my gallery, gives you the general view of it but didnt have the awning up as we had pitched it on the small side of the back. Next time we will open it on the large side (where you could pitch your pathfinder!) and get the awning, curtains etc on. Now looking forward to April holidays and our first week away in it

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just to say I dont have any probs with condensation, no more than there would be in any other unit. Also its not fiddly to put away at all. I can have mine packed away in approx 20 mins. I love it.
As I said everyone is different though. Be boring if we werent.
I agree with you!! Only took us 20 mins today on our first attempt at packing the Dandy away!! Was really surprised at how quick it was actually and things will only get faster LOL. Cant find the plate on a frame but have found a plate on the hitch itself dated 1989 so dont know if thats it. How do you clean the PVC? The woman I got it from went to a lot of steam rallies and it is really filthy in places and I want to scrub it in the spring, any advice? Not looking to have a gleaming showroom style whiteness just a clean unit LOL. Also need to do awning as it is filthy with various stains. Again any advice will be duly noted.
Did u c the pics? Hoe you ignored the washing pole LOL. I pitched it on the wrong side of the garden and havent had a washing hung out for 3 days LOL

Yep, I've looked at your pics. Looks like you got yourself a good deal there. My date is actually etched into the a frame, not on a plate. They all seem to be different though, so could well be there. A bloke I was talking to said that the manufacturer will kit them out to your own specs if you are buying a brand new one. That is why they are so different.
As for cleaning them, try Cif or something similar, seems to work ok.
Is your awning pvc also, if so try Cif on that too.
Have you looked at my profile? Got pics of my Dandy on there.
hi just had a peek at your picks of your dandy its lovely we got ours at easter this year and we think its great use it most weekends. our details are on a metal plate to on the a frame ours is 1986.It looks very much the same as yours hope you have many happy camps in it.In my info that came with it it says if you polish the pvc a couple of times a year with mr sheen or similar it will keep it supple. we find the awning is very heavy and a bit tricky when you try to zip it on but after you have used it a couple of times you will find the easier way is to open a beer before you start and relax.
Hi loopieloo, Have you had any luck yet? if you haven`t
when you go to look at one that you like the looks of
if you haven't got any experience try to take someone
with you that might have some idea what to look out for
not everyone is trust worthy. when you are ready buy a folding caravan or folding camper (connway/ pennine buy
your self a damp meter they are well worth the money
it could save you wasting your hard earned cash, all ways check inside of cupboards and under the seats for damp all ways ask the seller to show you that every thing works as it should cooker fridge lights and road lights good luck.
