This is my crib list, I found it quite useful the first few times.

check corner re-enforcers
wardrobe bar
roof support pole

peg (starting with corners)
secure canvas to trailer
Also leave the key in while you are pitched, that way you shouldn't break the lock.
Lol considering they are ment to be fast to erect, thats quite a list!!!

Because its the first time, gotta put all the curtains up and that, not even looked at half the stuff, I know its easier to fit the luggage store first, but dont even know how it fits, so probably be there for hours, lol
Just noseying at your profile pics stuart, did you sell a camplet for a holtcamper? They look very similar, how is the holtcamper better? How much did it cost?
Most of the things on the list only take a couple of seconds, until you forget them and have to backtrack!
The curtains take a while, and are a bit fiddly, we did that on our trial run in the garden. The pelmet needs putting on the first time as well.
The luggage store has four clips that fasten onto the luggage rack. Lie the luggage store on top of the trailer and you'll be able to see how it goes on.
Putting the goundsheet down first helps as well, before you position the kitchen.
They are really quick and easy, but it does seem a lot to remember at first.
so glad you sorted. This happened to ours yesterday at Camperlands but chap managed to get in.
The posting: We found having one person lifting up the door a little and then the gentle moving as you did, worked.
Once open, bend the tab that seats into the bracket, out slightly. This solved our problem.
Was exactly what he told us to do. Said just get a screw driver and prise out tab slightly. Prob would have helped if I hadn't loaded the kitchen unit with every conceivable utensil!!!!
We did sell camplet for Holtkamper.
There are very many advantages over Camplet
1) The basic tent, which is on the gallery, goes up in about 3 minutes. That is what it took us this week end.
2)The bed, which is slatted and on double thickness mattress with goose down overmattress, is immediately available, we even had it made up ready.
3)The storage is immense, under the bed. In the Camplet we realistically could only store about 3 crates in addition to the poles,groundsheets etc. The Holtkamper has easily 6 crates spare.
4)The kitchen can be very easily moved around as it has sets of large wheels which lower down .
5) Additional awnings go out in all directions and require only minimal pegging.
6)The roof raises in layers to provide air conditioning in hot weather.
7) all windows have a shutter system and mosquito netting, as do the doors in the smaller rooms and the bedroom. Any midge getting into the bedroom deserves your blood for endeavour over the odds.
8) It is about the same weight as the Camplet, but comes on a very sturdy Alko braked trailer, with a good hitchlock.
9) It tows like a dream, and because it has a sensibly sized jockey wheel, is much easier to manoeuvre on site than the Camplet.
10) Downside (perhaps) they do not have stockists in the UK, but make up for it by making the biggest fuss imaginable. Try to think of Mr Cabanon coming to greet you and show you around his products. The Holtkamp family did just that.
11)The quality of the build is fantastic...stainless steel on all fiitings
12) It comes at a price....think Combi Camp and then some
It sounds good, I will have to have a nose on the website! My OH was looking at them the other day.
I was surprised there was no brake on the camplet, we have the jockey wheel but our garage is down a slope, even though it is a light trailer it was hard getting it in there with no handbrake!
Shame theres no one selling them in the UK, I have a feeling they would sell them here, even at the high price
Would strongly recommend you take it somewhere you can erect it and have a go putting it up before you leave on your trip.
(er, if you haven't done it already that is!).
They aren't difficult to put up but there are a few 'tricks of the trade' which you'll twig to, and it can save some stress if it's wet and windy when you come to put it up on site.
Thanks I know, I did suggest this to my OH, so we could put the curtains and pelmet up, but so far we haven't, mind you getting time is the trouble, always one of us at work!
We will probably look right fools when we get to the campsite! Unless we get chance in the next couple of weeks.
Hi every one I have same problem ..just bought a second hand camplet and key won't turn either way..
It has opened with much time and fidling ..but this time not budging tried all the things people on here has suggested but sadly still no luck.. does any one know if I get a lock smith to undo it..could I use camplet without locking the key ..as seems that it's got a mind of its own..and I holiday alone ,hate the thought arriving on site and having this problem.. ( nightmare ) from sue
If you get the lock tongue removed you will be able to use it without the key. Of course, you won't be able to lock it at all then but I guess that's probably what you need.
You've got me worried about mine now!!
