Anyone out there got any imformation about the RAPIDO ORLINE 33 folding caravan (early 90,s model) I,m looking at one (though its a bit expensive for its age ) Its advertised as ex con ......................cheers
If they are in good condition they can be expensive. If you look on this website www.campingandleisure.co.uk they sell Rapido and Esterel folding caravans.
We are new owners (late last year) of a Rapido Orline 39ST (1993) and think they are great inventions. Easy to store and tow. Doesn't take long to set up. My OH goes to fill the water while I put the van up after we level the van.
We did make one mistake. Not getting any younger we decided to buy a second hand motor mover. Saw one working, bought it and thought no problem getting someone to fit it. Apparently the Al-Ko chassis is too shallow for the fitting of the mover and needs special drop plates. Try getting someone to supply them!! Truma don't sell direct and no-one we have near us stocks them. There are 2 different types and cannot afford 2 lots at £100 each. Cannot see anyone taking back the set we don't use if they are wrong can you? Going round in circles.
Anyway hope you find out some more info about your Rapido from someone. Sorry I couldn't help.
Regards
J
------------- I don't mind people looking down their noses at me, as long as they don't expect me to look up to them.
We have an Orline 39, cost £1200 and a bit untidy but solid. Have cleaned it up, re-covered seats and new vinyl flooring, new curtains and its great for a fair few years yet.
Check this website, they sell all the manuals on ther for a couple of quid to download.

Hi J, contact this firm and discuss your problem with them.
They have fitters all over the UK and they also sell the drop plates to fit motor movers to FC's.
We had a MM fitted to our Pathfinder by them. They are very good.
i paid £1000.1p on ebay around 20 months ago for a rapido orline(model unknown). looking back at pics, i bought a "right one". I have worked on it ever since,1500 so far, it is now unique and finished(sort of) and although i was going to sell it,i cant see me ever getting rid of it as it suits our means.
if you are no good at DIY, then i imagine that something so old will not be any good, but if you are, then they make a great holiday home, and a nice project.
Happy folding holidays
Hi Guys
First post (I think)- be gentle with me.
I had to change towcars from a 2½ litre Riley to a 1½, so the Royale Tourstar is too heavy.
I have bought a Rapido Orline 33E, and could do with some advice from you Rapido experts out there.
Particular points are :
Can I buy a suitable awning easily, or do I need to source one specifically designed for the Rapido? If they are available, does anyone know the measurement or what I should measure to get a suitable one?
Is there a known dodge for having a gas heater in a Rapido? I know the Propex route, but I'm a bit short of cash having just bought the van. A free-standing gas fire would suit, like the ones you used to have on a rubber hose with a tap on the van floor.
Finally, is there a known dodge for creating/adapting/bodging a "toilet room"? My wife insists that we stay at pub campsites, so an alternative to a Pampers sleeping bag would be nice.
For the awning. Do you have an awning rail fitted. If so you should be able to buy an awning.
You need to check the height of the rail because most awnings give a height they are suitable for.
Then you need to measure the distance from the ground at one end, up and along the awning rail and down to the ground at the other end. This is the A measurement quoted for awnings and is the size.
For a toilet room you may be able to hang a curtain inside to give some privacy, but not sure what you would fix it to. Alternatively, if you get an awning you could curtain off a section using a shower curtain. Or you could buy a toilet tent and put it outside or in the awning if it is a suitable height. Or you could buy a utility tent, which is a bit bigger than a toilet tent and useful for storage or changing etc.
Inside our Orline 33E I have serewed in two pairs of net curtain eyes to hang ordinary flat sheets with eyelet holes fixed (like a shower curtain) on the stretchy net curtain wire, one partitions off the small table / single bed and one for the large table / double bed. The space between works well as toilet and washing area. The wires also double up as an indoor washing line.
Our caravan has the awning rail - so yours probably will too. We bought a cheap (£90) Portico awning from Towsure, it will need adapting as it is too tall, awnings are available from Campers & Leisure "ready to fit" but are more expensive.
I removed the gas heater when I replaced some of the rotten floor, we now use a cheap electric greenhouse heater as it is thermostically controlled. In summer we may go "non-electric" and run the fridge on gas.
Many thanks; just the info I was hoping for.
I haven't been inside mine yet - not even seen teh inside. No doubt common sense will answer most questions, but can I get back to you in your capacity as seasoned Orline 33E user?
One pressing question is - how high from the ground is the awning rail? You are right, it does have one!
I will soon bring the Orline home, but there are some bargain porch awnings around and my pocket money is burning a hole!
