Ok very quickly we have a very old dandy which is now beyound our use - somebody will be able to fix it up and do something with it no doubt - in our haste to find something quickly and in our budget i put in a bid for a rapido folding caravan we didnt win but came second - basically a second chance offer has come in and i am now thinking was I too hasty?what are these folding caravans really like? - are they easy to put up - I loved my dandy and really wanted to get another in better shape but the price that we can go too means we may end up with one similar to what we have now which would be pointless.
The rapido looks fairly well cared for - so wanted to hear from any rapido owners who can give reassurance as I will need to move quickly if I am to accept the offer. Thanks in advance
I have the Export which is the bigger of the 3 & myself & my daughter or my other half can put it up in around 15 minutes although it is a 2 man job. There is a video of a man putting up a confort on you tube in around 2 mins but in reality it's easier with 2 people. They are very basic but they do the job well enough for what I want it for. I'd get the owner to show you how to put it up & down as well as you need the knack as the first time can be very daunting. When I first put mine up it didn't help having a nosey neighbour telling us how to do it when he never had a clue to start with so lets say tempers were frayed. If you do decide to buy it then if you join here there are a few people here who could give you some tips.
What model Rapido did you bid on if you don't mind me asking?
yes I would have liked it to be bigger model - but again we only really need the basics and it usually is just the 3 of us unless a friend of my daughters comes along - i think its the comfort? It has like a bunk set up oneside cooker middle and double otherside all open plan - you only need a single electric towbar right? i know they have installed a leisure battery option too which we have never used - silly question but what is the bed comfort like? I think they are probably the original but recovered.
ok had another look its called a confort-matic - I diddnt realize there were 3 types! - I may as well ask - in your opinion is £600 a fair price to pay with a full awning and a few extras thrown in gas/electics/portapotti - it also has the lockable outer storage. would appreciate your thoughts!!
Sounds pretty reasonable to me as it has an awning with it. especially as a second hand awning for one of those went for £275 on eBay recently (way to much in my opinion.) The beds could benefit with a mattress topper though. Mine only has single electrics but I've never had any problems with that although I have a zig type unit to fit at a later date. The Matic versions are supposed to be easier to unfold although I had a Record_matic last year & didn't find it that much easier.
