Just bought my first tt - a 2006 Pennine Pathfinder (he pauses and lets out a loving sigh).
Anyway, it's got a slot for a leisure battery which I intend to fit cos I don't always go to places with hookups.
My question is, though, when I fit the batter and connect it up with the cables provided in the battery compartment, should I just leave it always connected or should I disconnect the terminals when the trailer is not in use or on extended hookup?
When hooked up your camper will charge the battery - you may find the mains electrics won't work without the battery connected anyway. you should have a switch somewhere to switch between car and trailer (maybe say "van"). On car, your car will charge the battery and run your fridge and when on van, the mains will charge your battery. The only time to disconnect the battery is during long lay-ups, Winter is a prime example, when you would store it somewhere, connected to a trickle charge is possible.
Mine tends to stay in the camper, connected, all the time. As the camper's at home I can then plug the mains in every now and again to top the charge up.
One of these days I'll get a proper charger and leave it on charge all winter!
