Last 'summer', in high winds, the hook on the end of one of the stetcher bars of our Pennine Pathfinder sheared off.

Pennine kindly sent another hook free of charge. It is set in a plastic plug, which goes into the end of the bar.

Does anyone know how to carry out this repair? I can't prise the old one out, is it rivetted? Will it have to be drilled out?

Thanks for any advice

Warm the bar end in a jug of boiling water,this expands the metal and at the same time softens the plastic.Failing that,drill a hole big enough for a hacksaw blade and cut a few slots.

I think it's just a push in job so that means you will probably have to drill the old one out Someone will be along in a minute to correct me if I'm wrong lol

Definately not riveted in or glued or anything as we have to push ours back in on a regular basis.

Hi
I had to carry out the same repair on our poles. I drilled out the rivets and the the ends slid out. Push in the new ends then i secured them in place with small stainless steel self tapping screws to retain.

Mine fell out at the weekend and was really hard to get back in. We warmed the pole and it went very easily. Never happened before.
