Got back from the Newhaven site in Derbyshire yesterday after our first weekend in our TT. We chose the site as it was central for touring the peaks and only a couple of miles from Hartington- a village that we have come to love over the years  The site is very well maintained- the loos could do with a refit, but were acceptable. We booked a pitch with EHU. We were given a hardstanding pitch- with newly found hindsight, we will request a grass pitch with EHU as they are far more TT friendly, especially for the awning. It took only a few minutes to erect the TT, but we got a bit stuck with the awning. The only thing that we couldn't work out was why the canvas was "baggy" at the front (pics to follow once we've uploaded them). It was only when we took it down that we discovered that we hadn't extended the front poles to their widest extent . Then when we came to pack away we kept trying to fold up the wrong side first  until a friendly ex TT owner put us right  We had a good time tho on the whole- we were lovely and warm as we took our Merino wool bed toppers, which we use as quilts at home- keep you warm in the winter & cool in the summer (only downside is that they are quite heavy). We had great weather and explored lots of new places - dove dale is beautiful- would recommend going over the stepping stones- had to carry our dog over tho as she refused to budge half way across  Sorry for the long post, but just getting down how it went!

We did exactly the same! I couldn't work out which side of the frame folded in first - we managed the bed bases OK as the previous owners had kindly written on them 'last one in, first one out' What I didn't realise was the frame works the same way! We nearly split the trailer cover trying to get it back on over all the lumps and bumps! Second outing was much improved - I'm hoping for third time perfect next bank holiday

There's nothing like someone actually showing you, is there? TTs are not obvious! Even after many, many years of folding down our Conway I still hesitate as to which board/hinge goes down first, lol.

All we did was mark the bottom of the bedboards 1st and 2nd and never failed to get it wrong

You can tell from the hinge height on a classic Conway...low one goes over first. But I still have to stop and look!
