------------- my hubby says it will only take a minute (to put the tent up)lol
I haven't been on this site for ages, but I have a Conway Cruiser and have just bought a small cheap porch awning of ebay. I have read all the threads on here and I have bought the figure of 8 connectors, to attach the porch awning.
We are going off for the first time this year tomorrow, and will be trying this out, so I do hope it works.
I tried to find the you tube video showing how this is attached but can't seam to find it.
If you are good at sewing there seem to be a variety of options. Do a serach under adapted awnings and you will see pics of awnings that someone adapts as a business.
We've used a porch awning for a few years now, when we are just going away for 1-2 nights. We got it in a sale, it's the kind with folding fiberglass struts like a tent. We just knotted a bungy cord around each of the top two corners, and we hook the bungy cord metal hook into the awning holes in the two struts on either side of our Pennine Pullman's door. The awning leans against the unit more than it would on a caravan, as the unit is shorter, but this adds to the stability. Pegged out around the bottom, it has stood us in good stead through many types of weather. Good place to keep the chemical toilet, chairs, shoes etc. If it is raining extremely heavily, you get a very minimal drip down the crack between the awning and the unit, but in that kind of weather we are snugly tucked up inside so this doesn't matter.
Just thought I would update you on how we got on with our porch awning.
We only needed 3 of the fiqure of 8 connectors and they fitted on the zip no problem. The fitting of the awning was such a doddle and we are thrilled with it. I can honestly say that I won't be using the large awning again, and it will live in the shed from now on.
I just wish that I had bought a matching green one now
HI Lopo, one last question. What stops the poles from rubbing against your cruiser canvas and another question (sorry ) and what stops the figure of eight strips from slipping down?
The figure of eight strips fit over the teeth of the zip and stay in place no problem. I am not sure what you mean about poles rubbing against the canvas? As I can remeber the poles in the awning don't go right up to the edge of the awning. I didn't notice any problems with ours.
