Hi all,

we have been looking at the Trigano Odyssee(brochure)wondered what they are like and how they compare to the Camplet.
I know they are quite a bit cheaper but wondered what the quality was like.

Phil.

Hi

We had a Camplet Concorde but got rid of it because it was not as easy and quick to put up as we thought it would be. We bought a Trigano Randger folding camper and have found the quality to be fine. It is also a lot easier and quicker to put up the main unit for overnight stops.

We switched from a Camplet to a Jamet Jametic (similar to the Odyssee) this year.  We've only managed one outing so far this year, and the weather was fantastic so thankfully I don't know how it holds up in storms, but so far we are very happy.

The downsides are a bigger, heavier trailer, a kitchen that weighs a ton, more pegs, and a couple more internal poles.  Although it didn't take us any longer to pitch, despite the extra pegs, partly because we were less worried about doing something wrong.  Also  because the storage is under the second bed, we didn't have to get everything out and set it up immediately.

The upsides are zip in groundsheet, underbed tent, more storage in the trailer, slatted beds, no wheel arches in the bed, more headroom, and a sturdier kitchen.  We found it easier to pack up as well, because the trailer is easier to pack. Oh, and if you don't buy a Camplet first its cheaper!

The Camplet is a great trailer tent, it packs a lot into a very small package,  but if you can manage something a bit bigger but like that style, I think the Jametic, Odyssee, or Olympe are well worth considering.

All the best,
Alison

Hi,and thanks for replies

Quote: a kitchen that weighs a ton,

I would look for one that comes without one of those kitchens. Why do they make them that heavy.I'm 6.2" and strong as bull and it takes some lifting.
I think you can get the Odyssee without the kitchen, not sure about the Jametic
Another option we like is the Raclet Quickstop, especially the lighter kitchen unit and the option to zip out all the awning panels.

I havent had one of the new 'pram hood' style triganos, but i recently sold a vendome. The quality of everything was very high, all solid and built to last. Having spent several hours looking at the new odysée and olympe in Camperlands as well as the camp-let, I would say quality -wise there's very little to pick between them, except the kitchen unit. The removable units on the back of the trigano are very solid, which also means they are very heavy and they have to be lifted off the trailer to be moved into position. If that's an issue a camplet with its swing out kitchen would be better

We have an Actual Odyssee, but everything alisonme says of the Jametic applies to that too. (We've never had a Camplet or any other brand, and we're not expecting to have anything else in the foreseeable either.)

We have also weathered epic storms in ours, in Burgundy last year and the Netherlands this year, and it took them in its stride.

The kitchen is annoyingly heavy, as everyone says, but not really a problem to lift _if_ you have two ordinary adults available.
