Hi All

I am looking to travel to France next year. Because I have 4 children and 2 of them are wee nippers, I think its best if we have a stop over in the north somewhere.

Now I know I could book a campsite in the north but this means having to get some of if not all of my gear out and I really dont fancy doing this.

What I would prefer is a travel lodge type idea somithing really cheap and cheerful.

This way we can have a bti of a rest, a bit of food and so keep me and the kids sane.

Anyone got any idea? suggestions? or names of cheap stopovers or chains of.

Thanks in advance

Simon

You could try Campanile - they're like Travel Lodge - but I don't think they're particularly cheap.  Or try the French Tourist Information web site, they should have accommodation information.

Thanks for the reply :o)

I have looked at Campanile but like you they didnt look super cheap.

I have heard that there is a cheaper chain than that, that are largely un-atteneded and have paper towels etc etc. Have you heard this?

BUT thanks for the tip re the website I have never thought of that. DOH!! :-)

I will deffo try that.

The cheapest of the cheap is the F1 Chain.  Look them up under http://www.hotelformule1.com When we stayed their they were BASIC, but ok for an overnight.  You'll need 2 riims for 6 people.  Enjoy!

We were very impressed by the B&B chain in France. Slightly more expensive than Formule1, but rooms have ensuite bathrooms, and you can get 4-bedded rooms as well as 2-bedded rooms.

They also do a nice buffet breakfast quite reasonably priced, including cereal, croissants, bacon and eggs, tea, coffee etc.
