Hello, forgive my ignorance, we recently bought an old Pullman and have just used it for the first time this weekend in Barmouth. I was just wondering do I need to tie/peg down the canvas as there are not any tie down points on the canvas.

Despite the many, and I mean many patches it proved to be nice and cosy for the three nights we were in it. Over winter we intend to put it in a storage container we have and attempt to refurb and update it a little as well as getting the tent canvas repaired to a decent standard instead of the various glued on patches. I will set up a little blog detailing work we do which includes;

I have already made a front locker, took 2 hours and cost £25.00 for the plywood etc.

Replace a section of floor by the door.

Add 240v electrics.

Add leisure battery and 12v points.

Replace flooring vinyl.

Update caravan furniture finish.

Remove gas heater from end wall.

My fair lady will make some roof liners etc.

Fit new trailer lights as the old ones have all been removed and a trailer board fitted.

It may sound like a lot of work but we only payed £75.00 for it, it had been sat on a neighbours driveway unused and unloved for 11 YEARS.

WOW what a bargain. I have guy line from the main cabin. I do peg these as it stops the roof from sagging. Enjoy your FC

We have four loops on the corners which we guy if it looks windy. With both bed skirts on it is usually quite pegged down anyway. How could anyone not love a pennine

Sounds like a plan and what a bargain - I will look forward to your blog and lots of pics please.

Just a thought - I appreciate that the gas heater may not be working but it might be worth having it checked out by a gas fitter to see if it can still be used - they are pretty rare and an absolute boon if you are camping without EHU. We have a gas fired blown air heater in ours and tbh it was one of the main reasons we bought it.

You do not need to peg down the canvas - if you have the side skirts and the awning you peg these down and my 97 Pullman has guy lines at each corner but because we have the above items we have not need to use them.

Keep an eye on ebay - sometimes replacement canvases and awnings do come up.

Good luck with your project.

Oh, is that what they're for?

(There seem to be small loops all over the place on the canvas, we've never worked out what they're supposed to be for..)
