On my Raclet I have the original front storage box which matches the rest of the unit, however I can only fit a porta potti and 4.5kg gas bottle in there with some other odds and ends.
I really need to be able to get a three way fridge stored on the front as well due to the lack of space in the car, but the one I have is too big to fit even on it's own in the box.
I have seen it mentioned before that people have used the plastic 'keter' type storage boxes bolted to the 'A' frame, this is something I can easily do myself, and would line it with plywood in the bottom to take the weight.
This would enable me to get everything stored there.
Is this something any of you have experience of doing, is it recommended, and are the boxes durable enough??
And if I came to sell the raclet in the future would a plastic garden box put you off buying it?? (In other words would you recommend keeping the original box to replace when I come to sell the Quickstop?)
Many thanks for your replies, I will probably keep the original Raclet box in the shed to replace if I sell the trailer tent at some point.
I am planning to make the new box about the same size as the boxes you see on the Trigano trailer tents, i.e not quite as wide as the unit itself but almost, so hopefully should have no problems with clearance.
Should solve all the problems of getting what I need in the car as I have a seven seater with minimal boot space and four children to fit in, meaning I can't remove all the seats.
Hopefully with the new box I will just need to put clothes and food in the car, everything else can go in the trailer tent, apart from the kids bikes, body boards, etc, but thats another project for another day (trailer tent luggage rack, the welder's on stand by!!!!)
hi tim regarding your storage box on your a frame.i fixed a plastic box on my raclet marathon from B & Q. Found no problems with it on. When I sold my Raclet I took it off and fixed it to my Commanche trailer tent. Make sure you leave enough space between the trailer and box to attach your shock cord.
I was having a look at plastic boxes on ebay today, and it seems that if I buy one that is big enough to fit in my fridge then it won't fit into the space on the 'a' frame between the front of the trailer tent and the back of the tow hitch assembly (mine has fitted brakes so the braking/handbrake mechanism take up a lot of space on the drawbar).
I think the way forward will be a custom made plywood storage box which i can build myself (I am a qualified boat builder, although not in that industry now, so can make this quite easily).
Its a shame as a plastic box would make life much easier, however to fit in my fridge I require a width of 49cm, the only box that provides this has an external width of 56cm but I only have a space of 52cm available.
