I am about to pick up my new car, which should have a 7 pin tow bar fitted to enable me to carry a bicycle rack (or so I'm told). Do I need 7 or 13 to tow a trailer tent? At the time, the salesman seemed certain that a 7 pin would tow a trailer tent, but having googled a few things I am not sure and quite confused. Staff turnover at this dealership is high, so I do not have a lot of confidence in them. Any help appreciated, thank you.
7 pin will be fine for a trailer tent. My outfit, being dutch, came with 13 pin and we just changed the plug
If you are having a tow bar fitted, I would go for the 13 pin and just use an adaptor if required for the bike 7 pin adaptor
Thanks Stuart. I now have the car and the 7 pin towbar, which forms part of the bike trailer, so 7 pin it is. Very few excuses not to have a trailer tent now....
