Wonder if anyone can help me??
We purchased a Conway Corniche at the end of last season, looks like a 1982-1984 (green & beige) model, in very good condition. Have been looking around and am a little confused as ours is a twin axle trailer and all the others I've seen are only single axle - does anyone have any ideas about this?? The trailer has the decals on for the Corniche and looks original.
Am looking forward to trying out the Corniche in April, we have booked a weekend away. This was an upgrade from our tent as someone camped next to us in a trailer tent and we were impressed with the idea and set up. Saw some very nice newer trailer tents at the Boat/Caravan show last weekend....given us something to think about should we decide to upgrade next year!!
Look forward to hearing from any of you with ideas on why our trailer is twin axle....
Many thanks
Charlotte

If it was made by Conway, you will find it here.

It sounds to me like somebody as added the extra axle so that they can carry more weight

There are some photos of the trailer tent on my profile if any of you are interested...I have half a dozen or so photos.....if you would like me to email them to you then please let me know.  The plate says it's Conway Leisure Products...CK 83.  Any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Charlotte

Conway appear to have made two models of the Corniche.

One was the Corniche L and the other was the Corniche De Lux.

I cannot see any obvious difference between the models other than the fact that the Delux was considerably heavier than the other.

I think that the De Lux possibly had twin axles to improve the payload, but this is just a guess on my part as I have not seen this in writing.

I can only suggest that you contact the Conway Owners Club.

the problem with it having twin axles so can take more weight is it is an unbreaked trailer so is limited anyway and fitting the extra axle will give you less payload?

The "L" models didnt have a detachable kitchen, the "DL" did. on the conway chassis there are holes for the axle to be near the rear for a DL or forward for the L, obviously the L is a shorter unit. I would suggest that as campinkev said, someone has added an extra axle on the forward holes in order to carry more weight.

Thanks for all your replies guys.  Ours does have the kitchen attached and we assume as some of you have said someone has added an extra set of wheels at some point.

Looking forward to taking her for her first trip out in just over 5 weeks....can't wait!!

Those 2 wheels are certainly going to get some double takes from tt owners lol.

I can't say that i have ever seen twin axles on a tt so it does make me wonder whether a previous owner added them for his own reasons

The difference Between the L and DL versions Of any conway as far as I am aware is the L has no kitchen unit but the DL has

UPDATE

Hi Guys, just to let you know that we had a fantastic time away in our Conway Corniche with twin axle.  She was an absolute dream to tow, didn't even know she was on the back and got a few compliments once we were all set up on site regarding the excellent condition she is in.  So pleased that we bought her. The space inside is amazing compared to our tent we had last year and with the addition of the kitchen just made life so much easier.  DH has now built a rack which attaches to the trailer to carry the bikes so we are off again in July and again in August.....can't wait!!!!
