I really hope somebody can give me some advice.  We have a 1991 Coleman williamsberg Tailer Tent.  It has been stored over the winter, and the canvas is now leaking.  I have reproofed with Nikwax, however this has not prevented the water coming through.  Can anybody give me some advise on what else I could try.  The water is mainly coming in through where the bars are supporting the canvas in the bedrooms.  Hoping to go away for Easter, but not with it the way it is at the moment, we would be flooded out!!!

Hi joosie.

I do a lot of fishing and my current tent is now 16 years old. When it first started to show signs of water coming through on the seams and indeed where the poles touch the material I treated it with Thompsons Water Seal. I give it a re-coat every 3 years and it has never shown any signs of leaking since.

The only down side is it smells a bit for a couple of days and it tends to darken the area treated but it deffo keeps the water out.

Only a few weeks ago I ran out of  "Thompsons"  and bought some from Wickes under their own branding  "Wickes- water seal" as far as I can tell it is exactly the same as the Thompsons. Cost about £12 for a 2.5 litre can.

Worth a try on an area not too visible maybe near the ground round the back?

Simply apply with a cheap, throw away brush on a good dry day. Can then be tested within a few hours with a hose.

Good luck.
