We are looking at moving on from our tent and taking the plunge with a TT.
We are struggling with the different sizes and how to store and would ideally like to store in our garage. We have looked at the Camplet and Trigano range as would like to store on side in our single garage (5m by 2.4m) as you can get side storage accessories for these.
Would be grateful if you helpful people could let me know how you store yours and if you do store in the garage - how much room would they take up etc and how easy are they to store on their side??? Is there still room left in the garage??
Many thanks
xx
------------- Plans 2012:
Hopefully buy a trailer tent and then maybe explore Burgandy!
The average tt is 1.2m wide and about 1m high so you still need pretty much the same depth of space if you store it on the side unless you take the wheels off, although you do have the space either side of the wheels.
If I was to store a tt in a garage I would build a large platform high enough for the tt to slide under (6 legs made of minimum 2x2 and a few cross braces) and then board it with loft chipboard - loads of storage space above and it's not sitting on top of your tt so it doesn't have to be moved everytime you go camping.
we got the side bar for the camplet but found it very difficult to get the unit on the side, so we sent it back and now can store things on top of the camplet! And dont have to empty kitchen, front box.

2012 Planned
Easter - Cornwall
July scout camp
August North Wales
I ordered side storage brackets with my Trigano Chantilly. I tried them once, established that the space saved with side storage wasn't worth the effort (and that the TT wouldn't go down the side of the house as I'd hoped). I 'threw them in' with the sale when the TT went, so perhaps not my most rewarding purchase.
Also I'm not sure that long term side storage will be good for the trailer.
I found it easier to store ours on its wheels (ie not on its side) simply because I can leave everything in it and on the top carrier which in the end takes up less storage space than having the TT on its side and all the kit stored elsewhere.
For all the bits we chuck in the back of the car I bought some large cheap plastic storage boxes and keep it all together sitting on top of the TT.
The whole lot takes up about a quarter of the garage - if I didn't have workbenches and boats in there as well I'd have lots of room left.
Even completely empty a TT still needs two strong men to turn it on its side tbh. and honestly it doesn't take up that less space and you still need to find space to store the detachable kitchen if you have one, plus all the other gubbins like poles and canvas. It's much easier just to store it flat then you can leave all the kit inside between camps.
