I've used a raclet Jasmin for the past few years, we  have the full awning and the extension. When camping over the weekend we still use an awning as we have three kids and use under-bed tents; but we use only the extension with the front panel zipped in....much quicker, but much less space. I like the main unit, very comfortable with slatted beds etc, and haven't seen anything with beds to compare to be honest.

Now to the point. I would like an awning with hooped fibreglass poles that would be much easier and quicker to set up, and note that there are such animals in the new range of Raclets. Firstly, does anyone know whether one of the new awnings would zip onto my Jasmin main unit????

Secondly, has anyone ever 'adapted' a tunnel type tent to fit with a zip to match; or maybe a drive away type awning for a camper van.

Lastly, is there anyone that provides a service adapting such items to fit; lots of questions and hope you didn't get bored before reaching the bottom...

Don't know about adapting for your tt but quite a few of us with folding campers have adapted porch awnings to fit our main units and save on putting up the main/large standard awning.  As it is zip on style it maybe that even if the nex awnings are not right yet it may just be a case of having the awning zip replaced with one that will match yours.  Of course it may not be that simple but worth looking into.

It is definitely possible to adapt driveaway awnings and caravan porchawnings to fit your unit.  Search on here for adapted awnings and you will find some examples to inspire you.

Lots of tent repair companies could do the adpations for you once you have worked out what is sensible for your tt.  We used Tent Valeting Service near Bolton to adapt our awning and they were a decent price.

Thanks for the reply,

I've seen driveaway awnings adapted to fit around the door of a folding camper, but I'm looking for am awning that will zip all the way on to the main unit; the two lads sleep under the beds and they would need to be covered. That's why I was thinking of buying a new awning from Raclet, I'd guess that wouldn't be a cheap option though. I don't think it woulkd be possible to adapt the original awning as it's tailored to fit the frame.....aaah the frame, it's putting that thing up and dragging the awning over that takes the time; not overly keen!!

I'd thought something along the lines of hooped nylon tent with extra material at the unit end, and a set of Raclet zips around it?? Does that sound feasible, and I'm sure I once saw someone on here that did these things.

Anyone else know whether the new awnings fit?

Thanks

Just thought I'd give it a last weekend bump; never know someone may have missed it.

Thanks folks.
