Yes you can put electrics in a trailer tent it's not illegal, you can also get proper 3 way hook ups like These Which might be easier.

By doing this you can put in double sockets fit as many as you like and make a mini ring main nicely ptotected with RCD unit. Good idea

With all due respect, your electrician friend should be fully conversant with wiring regulations - 17th edition - although he will have to follow caravan rules (section 721), there are non specified for tent type structures.

TT Elec

This is the set up I put into our Raclette TT.

The RCD unit (right hand side), powered the two mains sockets you can see on the front of the bench seat.

The 4 sockets next to the RCD are 12v and were for the lighting, water pump and TV in the awning.

yes if you know enough about electricity its easy ,we fitted 240v and a zig in ours and a handy outlet so the 3 way "recomended" EHU can be plugged in for the extention.
a normal caravan EHU lead runs to the trailer through a 3 trip "fuse box" (the same one in caravans ) and one trip supplies the zig ,one the sockets and one the outlet.
we put the fuse box in a locker and used the space used for it in the above picture for the zig panel
