We have an old Pennine Sterling and looking at trading up to one of the above. Have been comparing online between the two and can't find much difference.
Do they both come with heating and hot water - or did that come in at a certain age?
Basically the same, just different badges. Someone will be along with the exact year that they introduced the heating/water.

Not quite true I don't think. The Crusader had sliding beds until quite late I believe and not sure heating was standard on the Crusader? Colours were certainly differemt which is quite a big thing for some
They are very very similar size wise and in other ways as blueexpo97 says

Ours is the Pathfinder which is on here for sale at the moment, I don't know much about the Crusader but the Pathfinders had a blow heater fitted (in the kick board) in the newer models (think around 2006/07) We never bothered about this as we carry a little blow heater which we can move between the camper and awning when needed.
Depends which year you are looking at ,crusaders before 2004/5 had the sliding beds after that same opening as Pathfinder, from 2004 onwards they were on the same paltform as the Pathfinder ,from 2005 thay had heating ,but it is the same heating the pathfinder as which is basically a electric plinth heater ,no better or worse than any duel electric fan heater ,infact mostly worse as no thermostat like fan heaters to control temp,2004 onwards also had the15litre hot water system that run on gas or electric,since about 2008 when Pennine started cutting costs and penny pinching they only fitted 5litre electric water heaters, and no fire extinguihers etc , as for opening system ,i have had both types and the sliding out system is far superioir ,if and this is a big if ,it is well maintained ,as a badly maintained sliding out system can be a pain in the arse with sticking slides ,where as the fold over system can take alot more abuse.if there was 2 identical new campers and only the system was different i would personally choose the slide out ,but these are not made anymore purely on a to expensive to produce basis

Thanks for all the comments. Not sure on what year to go for, just looking for a well cared for FC at a good price as we were stung with our Pennine Sterling on ebay, so have learnt from mistakes.
We loved our Pullman we had many a great holiday in her and now a younger family have bought her and were really impressed out how good condition it was in for its age (2000) model. Infact John&Lynn it was yours orginally so thank you for a fantastic camper which is still going great today.
The bathroom swung it for us to upgrade to a pathfinder, running to the loo in an electric storm in France last year was not my ideal of fun. I still prefer the green / cream colours as to the beige and cream for my new pathfinder but I am sure I will get used to it.

I have an old 99 Crusader, and it is a fantastic bit of kit, even has the hot water system, and the sliding bed system is far superior than the later folding bed system.
Have a look on e-bay, how many Crusaders do you see for sale? not many, if any. then look at the pathfinders, loads of them for sale. Tells you everything.
The Crusaders are well loved, and do not come up for sale very often.
For the Pathfinder owners, that's not taking anything away from them, they are also a superb, if not superior camper, but if you do go for the Pathfinder, try and get enough money for a 2005/06 model. They were the best.
If your budget is like mine, then go for the older Crusader model, but try and go for the 99 model onwards, and leave the 98's alone. (They had problems)

Hi karende Glad you had some good times in the Pullman and it served you well,we still have fond memories of our time with her ,Doesnt seem like 12 years ago we purchased her ,but 2 owners in 12 years is not bad ,and i dare say still going strong with many more years and outings to go, got to agree the Green and Cream of that era were the best colours,also i think they were better consructed personally,hope you have some great trips with your family in the Pathfinder

That's interesting to know, thankyou as I doubt we would have enough money for a 2005/2006 Pathfinder, so will keep an eye out for an older Crusader.
I would rather buy from the classifieds on the Conway owners than on ebay again as our Pennine Sterling looked alright on first impressions but the seller was not truthful (yes, we live & learn!!)
