For those of you who are facing similar damp issues or are merely curious I've taken a few photos of the progress so far:
This is she
All four corners were like this, as were both wheel arches. Structural battens were also rotten
Some of the rot on the top panel
The interior as it stands
The white dots are where I have messily sealed some of the holes that were hidden behind the numberplate
The carpet is being layed tomorrow and the interior put back in before saturday when Sterling 1999 will be coming to sort out the electrics! More photos to follow as it goes back together!
I'm so impressed! You say it's not the tidiest of jobs, but it looks pretty good to me on those photos. So many people would just have given up in despair when they saw that, me included!
I'm also prompted to go and do a thorough check of all the hidden corners of my Tardis to check their condition since I assume it only takes the smallest of holes to start off that kind of damage. The sun is shining so I may take the opportunity to get the camper all clean and bright too!
Can't wait to see the finished Esterel!

It was e definite eye opener when I took off the number plate and saw all those holes! I'm unfortunately now sick and off work (typical) but still have the work to get done... Hint, if you have an abcess get antibiotice before the infection spreads everywhere
After all the blood, sweat and tears (and copious amounts of swearing!) there is definitely a sense of accomplishment! Thanks to Iain, I can work on her in the dark as I now have electricity that won't kill me!
I've done a bit of investigating on t'interweb and it seems that the model of fridge I have in the van was discontinued in 1996 but hopefully the flue for the replacement model will fit as previously it had heating duct as the flue...
Sorry to hear about the abcess, I hope you are feeling better now you have the ABs x
It's amazing how quickly it is starting to take shape. I have far less to do than that, but you have inspired me to get off my bum and make a start. The camper has now been thoroughly cleaned on the outside and then opened up to see if that process had allowed any water to get in. Hurrah, there was no sign that any had Well done Conway! It also now looks all shiny and I have to say, last year i used washing up liquid and this year I used caravan cleaner. The difference was amazing, I will never use washing up liquid again!
Now you have safe electrics, what's next?

Glad I've inspired somebody! Next on the list is the gas... Not a lot to do really just replace some perished hose and cap off the tee where the water heater was. Then the water. Slightly more to do as I think the previous owners dropped their pump through a hole in the floor (one of many) to access the water container. When funds allow I'll get a proper water system but until then I'll make do with jugs! There's a bit of rot on the folding panels to rep[air but not half as bad as the floor so once that is done and given a coat or two of paint she'll be up and running!
To say that I never thought I'd do it is an understatement, but I have and with luck we'll be off on our first trip soon! Woohoo!
You really have made me get off my bum. Started to take knackered decals off, but because it's not a smooth surface that is a job i will have to do a bit at a time, at times it is coming of by the square millimetre I think i need a less windy day - the hot air from the hairdryer was just blowing away! Thanks to another poster on here (and my daughter helping her mum retain a sense of humour) work on my bedroom pods is underway and I made myself do that first because I was dreading it the most of the sewing jobs - all because I kept telling myself that if you didnt give up when you saw all that rot i should jolly well stop being such a wuss!
You have also made me feel like even if the major problems that fill me with terror eventually occur, they will not be the end of the world/my beloved tardis. A huge thank you and a major well done from me!

Good luck with your sewing jobs! That's last on my list of things to do but I will be re-covering the seats eventually! Nothing is insurmountable and even if you make a mess of something the first time round there's no reason not to start again!
Hello! This is a very old thread now but I am about to embark on buying and renovating a folding caravan. I can’t seem to see the actual photos. Does anyone know why! I’d love to ask further questions when needed :)
Hello, I have started to renovate an old Casita folding caravan but I would like to replace the sealing strips that are located at the sides where they are fitted to the roof, the existing ones are in fairly rough condition.
Does anyone know where I could buy such strips .
Thanks Jack .
