Hi all.....a really choice topic this one but I gotta ask.
Being new to the luxury of an on board toilet in our Pathfinder I would like to clarify the best way to use it. I am talking about the flap valve. Is it best to open the flap valve before or after the performance . We will only be using the loo for liquids...no solids. Okay thats it, back to your breakfast now,

Do it either way, but if closed then run a little liquid in first. The pink liquid helps neutralise any nasty niffs! Plenbty of blue liquid if not just using for "liquids" as you say aswell and all breaks down just fine. Its not a grim a job emptying as you might think!
The main thing to remember is never remove the cassette with flap open!
If you do not open the flap and then use the loo, when you do open it, there can sometimes be a burst of gas from the holding tank that will then spray upwards and whilst this may not actually come out of the pan, it will gave you quite a start.
By the by, we have found that on some sites, they insist that you use Green Fluid only in your loos. The reason is that their sewage sytems use settling tanks and the normal blue (or pink) chemicals would destroy the bacteria that these use. So we have changed over to using Fenwicks Top & Tail for both the cistern and the holding tank. This saves carrying extra fluid just in case we land on a green only site.
You may, like myself, notice a strange phenomina regarding the emptying of loo tanks. In 40 odd years of doing so, I have only ever seen one woman doing this task. It must be a "Man Thing". A morning Stag Gathering around the CDP.
Use cheap toilet rolls they break up better. Toilet wipes do not break down so these need to go in a bag/bin Greek style. Should you decide to use it for all functions, make a cross of toilet paper in the bowl and this will stop streaks. When emptying press the yellow button to stop it gluging. Make friends and meet interesting people at the CDP.

As for only men emptying the loo,that's fair enough,they can be heavy. But I have only met one woman in the washing up area,and she was showing her fellah where it was!
I'm a woman and I do it and I do the washing up. In fact when we get there husband gets a beer and supervises!!!! with a bit of help with putting the tent up as it does take two.
