We are on our travels this weekend, and it looks like we'll be pitching our Mercury in the rain.

We've only pitched it once, in bright sunshine, but from what I can remember the instructions say to pitch the ground sheet out before putting the awning up. If we do this, the ZIG is going to be wet through before we put the awning over it, so we'll be mopping it before we even get in it!

Has anyone put the awning up first, before putting the groundsheet in? Is that easy enough?

Thanks

We've always done groundsheet first, reckon it'd be more trouble than it's worth - any rain could easily be mopped up with a towel of the groundsheet? If the mercury is the same as the stratos then not sure you'd be able lift the poles sufficiently easily to put the groundsheet underneath it? Hope this helps?

An old towel would do the job adequately... (We call it the "sweat" towel, as it's useful to have a rub down if pitching in sweltering weather)... Get's cleaned after every trip I feel I must add...

I dont think we'll be needing the "sweat" towe for any rub downl.

Looking at the weather forecast, we'll be needing divers outfits!

:-)

That's the exact reason (or at least one of them) why I've just gone and bought a tin tent :-)
