I love my Pennine Pullman and I can easily put the main unit up on my own in about 15 minutes. However, the awning is another matter!!! I did think about purchasing an awning from Lisa like many others have done so on here but really can't afford it.
For that reason I decided that I'm going to try and adapt an awning myself!!
I purchased a NR Villa Motorhome Awning for the bargain price of £30.00 and collected it today. It was really easy to put the awing up on my own so now I just have to try to attach it!! I would be very greatful to hear if anyone has used one of these awnings on their camper before. I am thinking of buying the "figure of 8" kit to attach the awning to the camper zip.
Any comments or suggestions on this will be greatly appreciated.
just get some figure 8 strips (i would buy 4 to be safe) and fit two either side of your apex ,should work a treat .a good caravan shop should have them in stock
Thank you blak fox I will look for the figure of 8's and Kelper I'm impressed that you can put the awning up in twenty minutes!! It takes me at least an hour and a half...and even then I'm not sure it's correct. Each time we've done it someone has ended up with a bump to the head from the central pole falling!!
Do you zip on, then throw the complete awning back over the main body ... then build the framework ... then pull the awning back over?
And, of course, peggy pegs make the pegging out very, very simple ...
Kelper, that's where we may be going wrong. We don't throw the awning back over the main body!!! We stumble around underneath it!!! Will try that next time we go away. We must have given the other campers a right laugh.

I just wished that the pennine awnings did not have the bayonet (think that's what they are called) to joins the poles together as the NR awning I have just purchased does not have them and seems much more sturdy.
Also looking at the peggypegs on-line at the mo and was wondering how many of you rate them!!
Arrive at site erect main camper partially ,zip on awning ,throw back over roof ,finish the main cabin ,erect awning frame ,pull canvas over ,(hopefully you will have removed panels when packing up) tension awning frame partially ,zip in panels ,peg down.finish tension of canvas to drum tight
It also helps if you take some 3 step ,kitchen step ladders with you to extend your reach
Your porch awning will be a lot lighter so your payload will also be greater don;t forget. the pennine awnings are very heavy especially with steel poles
You probably will also be able to leave the porch awning canvas attached to teh main unit when folding up which also helps. We have taken ours off last couple of times as it doesn;t really add any time zipping it on and off but you do have the option. A zip on solution will be a better long term solution rather than figure of 8's I would suggest. Why not get someone like TVS to do the sewing to you NR awning or see if Lisa will do it to your existing awning
