We are just back from a lovely long but wet weekend with our Fiesta. It wasn't raining when we packed away but it was foggy so we just couldn't get it completely dry. There was still some condensation inside and some droplets on the outside.
It now doesn't look as if the weather is going to be dry enough to get it up to air for several days. Our FC lives at the front of our house on a small bit of hard standing directly next to the pavement so we can't leave it up unattended.
Help! Any ideas on how to get it dry or stop moulded and mildew forming.
Is it actually raining there now? if not just get it up now - it will have aired in half an hour in this temperature.
The temperature is also your worst enemy - if you leave it even for a couple of days you stand a very real chance of getting mould growing.
I personally would not leave it to chance but that is my opinion you may get others who will tell you they have left theirs for long periods with no problems.
You need to have a contingency plan in place for when this happens again (because it probably will) do you have a friend or neighbours drive or garden you could use for emergencies?
It's so difficult to know what to do isn't it? I did get it up for half an hour and used a hairdryer on the damp patches inside, but there was so much moisture in the air, the outside got damper!
So I have put a dehumidifier in and will try and get it up as soon as the fog and muzzle goes.
I would rather have mine opened up in the rain for a few weeks than close and damp causing mildew to happen.
it never hurt ours last year at the first 10 week hols there was a lot of rain. But eventually there was some clear hours and its surprising how quick it dried off
Is there no-one you can trust to baby sit it open. It does say only a couple of days and it will start getting damaged.
Better open than shut. Only need a couple of hours
I agree with penways and have taken the canvas of a very big tt and spread it out inthe loft, with no probs. It may be a good idea to take a few photos to make sure you put it back right,
Taking the canvas off really isn't an option, but luckily it was dry yesterday morning so got it up for a couple of hours and if it is sunny tomorrow we'll give it another hour or so.
I'm sure it will be fine but it is difficult to tell if the canvas and mattresses are just cold or very slightly damp.
I must say this is the only downside to having an fc rather than a tent, but I'm still glad we made the leap.
