Hi, we went to see a nice 1994 Pennine Pullman folding camper today which was in fantastic condition until we found mould/mildew black spots on the inside of the canvas.
Should we keep well clear of this or is there a way to clean it and prevent this and is this a fairly common problem with Penninie Pullmans?
Its mildew normally happens by packing away wet and not letting the canvas dry out properly.
You can use a milton solution. This will stop the spread of mildew but not completly remove all the spots.

Personally,I'd run away screaming, but it all comes down to price. You have to expect some defects on an older camper, but the canvas is the biggest, most expensive item thats likely to need repair or replacement. Plus,if you have mildew, does that not mean it hasn't been that well looked after? Perhaps. You askis it a common problem with Pullmans, and of course,it isn't but it may be more common with many camper buyers who have never camped under real canvas before. PS,mildew, mould etc, once visible has already damaged the canvas.
We had a bad attack of it three years ago.
I sourced Sudbury Mould and Stain remover via an American yacht supplies company.
The stiff was brilliant and removed everything.
But worth going the Milton route first ... a lot depends on how much mould there is ... out roofing was completely covered with black stains ... no trace now.
