Hi,anyone out there ever had [profesionaly] a cassette toilet fitted in their Fleurette caravan?..Love everything about my little Fleurette...Just needs a cassette toilet. We have a toilet compartment...no problem, and we have a portalou...Or am i asking too much?...[wonder if anyone else has had this done...and did it turn out to be a positive idea?....thanx for humouring me.PS..We did concider an upgrade...but a lot of the second hand models dont have the original awning with them...and the new Fleurettes are too expensive [but that doesnt stop me lusting after them].
I know what you mean about the older Fleurette. I had one and it was perfect. Don't know why I got rid of it.
As for fitting a cassette toilet, I can't think of any reason why not if it is fitted by a professional and the wall is reinforced properly around the locker. Although I think it would be a lot of money for little gain. I have a portaloo with separate tank and top (like most of them)and, apart from having to lift the tank through the van, can't see much advantage in the cassette toilet. The cassette would be a permanent fixture in the van and may lessen storage options. Mind you, my van never had the toilet compartment, only a curtain, so it was never really an option. Go for it if that's what you want!
------------- I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
I would think it can be done but very expensive best bet would be to find one from a caravan breakers
2 here from ebay though http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Thetford-Cassette-Toilet-C4-/130804834513?pt=UK_Campervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item1e749360d1
Thankyou both, for the realy good advice..I have taken all this on board.I am going to sleep on it tonight. You have both made some realy good points.Popped into my local caravan store today and asked about the cost of this procedure...and it isnt cheap! He said [all told ] it would cost arround £450 .But,first,he would have to look at the Fleurette!...Having said all this,we do have a Portalou, and its perfectly functional!...Thanx again guys...i will keep you posted on this one..
When we had a campervan, then camplet trailer tent, then folding camper. We had for almost 20 years in all a porta potti, covered in a cover I sewed which had a cushion so served as a seat as well.
This porta potti was used up to when we got the Caravan we now have and used for the first time in September this year. The pp is inside my sisters old shed just in case it is ever needed, especially as she had it before we did for about 10 years as we had an elsan loo till she gave us this one. So its been around and lasted well.
I think you have already come to a good conclusion, why pay our for what is not needed whne you have a perfectly good servicable loo already.
By the way my big sis, turned her toilet compartment into a big larder cum pantry, as she needed that kind of space more than the loo compartment taking up to much room. I prefer the loo, but have no use for the shower bit, use the on site ones, so it also becomes a little storage room as well.
It is the very old, more harder plastic Thetford, well made back then.
Hi Chrissie, thankyou . your right...If it aint broke why fix it!..On reflection ive got quite a few things stacked up in that toilet!..and where on earth would i put these things if i went ahead and installed a [wee wee only] loo?!..Like my other reply said..Nothing much to gain..Yes i am going to keep hold of my hard earned cash...maybe buy a few wind breakers [excuse the pun] and a decent ground sheet! Your Porta Poti has stood the test of time.Just goes to show...they made things to last back then! And the Larder idea is Fab!...dont get me started [LOL] could even install Hubby in there, when the snoring goes into overdrive! [chears]

Nah! don't put hubby in there you may need to use it at night. Better to get yourself a box of Quies ear plugs. These used to be made years ago by Martindale. They are little round wax balls covered with cotton wool. Tou peel the c.wool off. Hold in your hand to warm up, shape into a cone/paramid shape then put into your ears. It does not stop everything but it dulls it down enabling sleep, yet still allows the bell, door, yells, telephone to be heard. Had them for about 20 years now as my Bob was like listening to Concord v Jumbo Jet.
Its be kind to hubby week who else is going to make brekkers and cuppa.
