Evening all
I'm Danny and have just purchased a 1996 Conway countryman and thought I'd better join here as onlyi have experience of caravans.
Since purchased a week ago it was put into the garage and left until this weekend when I thought I'd better give it the once over.
Overall I'm impressed with the condition considering the age, but one thing does concern me.
Towing the trailer back was a breeze compared with some of the vans I've had, but whilst giving the hitch assembly a spray over with grease I noticed a large amount of play in the slider assembly. I tried to pump grease into the two grease nipples but my grease gun was empty.
Peeling back the rubber gator I noticed a black nylon bush.
Is this wear typical or are the all like this and is it an easy repair?
I am a bit nervous of using the van until I'm sure as I don't recall play on the caravans.
Any info could be greatly appreciated.
For reference the hitch has a pop out coloured indicator for when coupling to the vehicle, I think it's also?
Not sure how unusual it is for these to wear as I have not experienced it myself. But replacements are available for your al-ko hitch. Check that they are right ones for your trailer.
