Hi funcampers, you shouldn't need to treat/waterproof your cover but I can't see anything wrong with a wash with a car shampoo with a wax addititive.

If like me you have found that there are pin holes in the cover you may want to replace it. I found the pin holes when I hung the cover over the washing line one sunny day (god it seems like years ago). I thought that I was getting condesation inside the cover but when I examined the cover I could the sunshine through the pin holes.

I got a replacement for my Crusader cover from TVS in Bolton.

Hi TVS. Thanks for the advice we have stored indoors but might need to change to outdoors this wk so just wanted to make sure we didn't have to do anything in particular. Thanks

We used to store our old Conway Corniche outside and when the transit cover got older we used Mer Bumper & Vinyl gel (you can find it online or at most good auto accessory outlets). Its a great product that bought the cover up a treat and re-waterproofed what had become a very dry looking vinyl cover that never let the water in but looked like it soaked the rain up.

If the cover is ok, not leaking and looks like new I wouldn't bother treating it, however if its looking faded and tired then Mer is the thing.

Hope this helps

Mike

Thanks for the tip about the Mer for the cover.

Now all I need to do is strap some empty 45 gallon drum around the outside of the body and we will be all ready for the 2013 camping season!

Treated cover at weekend (before rain and snow!) and came up a treat. We store ours with no winter cover or anything over the transit cover so was pretty dirty but this stuff brought it up lovely and leaves a waxy sheen whoch clearly repels water.

Great recommendation thanks
