Hi,
Soap and water was one remedy, with a re profing spray. You need to make sure that the Canvas is ok and not started to rot.
Do not use a scrubbing brush and dry before applying the proofer.

If the canvas has thinned or started to rot then you will need to have it patched.

What have make have you looked at?

Best regards,

Tony.

If there is any mould or mildew on the canvas, you will need to wash it down with a solution of 1/10 Milton & water, rinse, rinse, rinse & rinse again. Let it dry out thoroughly, then reproof it.

But certainly check the canvas to make sure it's not starting to rot. If it is begining to rot then you can't just patch it, as there won't be enough strength in the original fabric to sew a new patch to, it will just keep ripping away as you try to sew it.

The decision is yours, but personally I wouldn't touch it if the canvas is starting to rot.
