Right. I don't know Ireland at all, and I'm rubbish at geography, but I searched for Cork (as I noticed that I under your name), and indeed, lots popped up.

So yes, looks like you can indeed do it in Ireland. :)

I really don't know why I'm giving advice, as I don't know anything myself!!

However, when I asked, the wise people here said I'd be OK with a smart phone if you don't have a sat nav. It just eats your battery really fast.

There is a bigger thread somewhere on here on geocaching. But I can't remember where it is now.

I'm going for my first try this weekend, so I'll definitely let everyone know how we get on.

Its great to see people loving this, I cant wait to get out again and find some more, and yes you are ok using your smart phone but the battery will die very quick, I am now looking for a GPS unit.

We've just got into it this summer, friends introduced it to us on our annual weekend camping together. They're about to move to USA for 2 yrs so I'm wanting to get a geocoin made for them to deposit in USA with a challenge to race them back to Norfolk.

The only thing that has disappointed a little is people are not replacing like with like value wise round us in the few we've found, most look more like a bin than lowvalue treasure chest, certainly not equivalent to what the maker put in them. I try and leave something another child would be happy to get (still cheap) but doesn't belong in the rubbish bin!

From tents to trailer tents to a tin tent to an air tent to trailer tent and back to tin tent!

Well we went out over the weekend to find caches along the canal, what great fun we had, trying to avoid muggels and so on, anyway we did a 15 mile bike ride and found 4 caches, my 5 year old that came with us had a great time.
