Hi you lot, you always seem to have some good advice, so does anyone know how to remove the spring thingys out of awning poles, the reason is last year after a down poor in the night we had a swimming pool on top of the awning and the weight bent one of the poles

Hi Sean, if you have a thinner length of pole then you could use that to push it out from the opposite end. long nose pliers may do it but very fiddly and certainly frustrating. On one pole many moons ago I bought a new spring and cut the old spring and pushed it further in before fitting the new one. These were on Awning poles but are the same as TT ones.

Very difficult as there are sharp "teeth" on the ends which dig in and hold them in place. Replacement springs are available if you ruin it. If the pole is damaged beyond straightening then you could cut the broken pole to get at the good spring. Insertion tools are also available.

The simplest solution is to use a screwdriver or similar and just push the broken spring further down into the pole so that it is out of the way. You can then insert the new spring without a problem.
