Kaymarie, why dont you join the Conway Owners Club and go to a rally and you would get lots of tips about your unit, and help if required, friendship, and a discount on your insurance. We are regular people not geeks or anoraks so log on and join us.
COC also has a forum, which can be reached through the homepage (See Rizzo's link above). You can ask technical queries, tell us our favourite sites or just speculate about the taste of the chairman's sausage.
we have a tardis had about 6 years and we love it just put hot and cold water system in it heating just love it easy to tow easy to setup and they dont take up that much room just wait till all the people stop and look at it when your at the camp site
hi we are thinking of changeing our dandy 5 1980's for a conway tardis or newer model next yr.
Had 20 + days holidays this yr in dandy, but find it harder to put up as our health probs get worse. So looked at an easyer to erect camper and saw the tardis and cardinal on the web.
We are asking are these conways that easy to put up ??
There's not the weight involved that there is with the dandy but the wardrobe cooker etc still need to be put in place. The awnings are easier as you can use a light weight caravan porch awning on them.
------------- Good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.
we can have ours up and kettle on within 15mins. erection as follows :- unhook, level up , steadys down. handle in wind up (takes two -3 mins) slide beds out, inside to fix canvas bed ends in place, door down, wardrobe lifted up, lift over the cooker/sink unit. table up switch EHU on, kettle on.
I wouldn't say there was that much agro putting it up, the wardrobe can removed if its difficult for you to lift up. The newer the units though, the more internal fitting/lifting there is involved , ie toilet walls, shelf units etc. the awning can also be difficult (heavy as its canvas) but we use alight weight porch awning for shorter trips now.
Hi All,
I am getting pretty interested in a hard top conway camper and would like to take the family out to view some models on Bank Holiday Monday.
Can anybody tell me a good place to view folding campers within 30 miles of the Epsom/Surrey area please.
Many thanks,
Lee.
The wardrobe isn't that difficult to lift, especially if you only leave light gear in when you pack up. I must admit that the cooker/sink is quite heavy but my husband and I can manage it between us - we both have arthritis of the spine - and I often do it alone. Most folding campers have to have the stove moved into position and I find it easier than our previous Pullman where it had to be completely removed and stored on the floor.
We have had our Cardinal for a year now and wouldn't change it. We can put up the cabin in 15 - 20 minutes and can fit a normal caravan porch awning if we don't need the big awning.
I understand that they are no longer made because the winding mechanism was too expensive so they were making a loss on them.
we bought one a few years ago - sold it then bought a modern folding camper, wasnt a patch on the old tardis, so made my hubby take me on a 9 and a half hour round trip to buy another tardis, they are brilliant, sure you will have many happy holidays in it, cant wait to take ours camping again!
