Hi
I'm getting ready for our first trip in our Cabanon Galaxy TT.
We bought it second hand last year and I would like a front Storage Box.
Our nearest Cabanon stockist appears to be JR Camping at Lowdham, Nottingham. As previously mentioned on other member's posts they are a bit lacking in customer service skills!
They don't seem able to get a box in for us, so I wondered if anyone out there knows of another Cabanon stockist? I think we'll have to travel, but it could be a nice day out! Always happy to look at camping equipment!
Too expensive. Some folks have bought an garden storage box from B&Q,and attached it to the A frame, they cost around £30.00 that is what we intend to do.
Thanks. We went to BandQ today to have a look at the standard and deluxe boxes.
We were a bit worried that the plastic will go brittle in winter (like our garden chairs) and crack, especially when being towed on rough roads/fields.
The display model was already cracked which didn't inspire us.
I do like the idea of saving over £100 though.
Anyone else used this idea?
I'm also from Nottingham and agree on the J R front.....we bought out Cabanon extra large box from Midwest Camping in Knowle (nr Solihull)...they were excellent on the customer service side. Highly recommend.. The box we bought was expensive though £160, but an excellent buy as it seems to take everything.. Simon
We bought a toy chest for ours. Bolted it on with U shaped bolts so it could be lifted off and taken in for long holidays and the winter. It seems better plastic than on the garden boxes. If people noticed it said pirates gold on it they never said!
------------- Good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.
when we had our t tent we just got some ply wood made a box with a lid and painted it white bolted on to the trailer .it was big enough for the fridge, gas bottle, pegs and ground sheet.
Hi Kinza, we have fitted the B and Q box onto the front of our trailer and have just returned from our first outing of the year travelling over 200 miles each way to the south coast for 10 days with no problems whatsoever. We fitted the box towards the end of last season and it was stored in the garage over the winter with no problems.
The only problem we can forsee with it is when reversing if the trailer comes round too far then the box will hit the back of the car as it is as wide as the trailer tent and quite close to the back of the car. It was fine when travelling forwards however, even on mini roundabouts.
We reinforced ours with bolts all round and plywood on the base and I also put ratchet straps around it when travelling. I have posted a picture in my gallery.
It certainly holds a lot of equipment although we do try and keep the lighter stuff in there. I can understand your uncertainty as I still find myself checking it over after every time we have used it and checking that it is still bolted on! but so far so good.
Thanks for that Chris. By the looks of it, we've bought exactly the same box.
Hoping to fit it before we go away in May, it certainly looks like it will hold everything we need. Have repacked the trailer tent today, and will be putting the fridge and porta-potti in the box, together with a few light items.
Hopefully we have saved over £100!
