Sorry, I have no experience with this, but the thought of it fills me with horror.
What if it ran on lighter colour? what if it was patchy? I would just re-proof with fabsil to help stop it fading more and look upon it as a happy well used camper wearing its happy times for all to see

years ago you could get coloured proofing stuff called messowax my dad did his tent with it
Myself & my ex used a coloured proofing which came in smallish tins. We were stuck for money, so we bought three tins which were reduced as end of line.... one orange, one blue & one green. When we'd finished, we had a ridge tent with blue roof, orange front & back, and green side walls. We thought it looked great, but God knows what the campsite owners thought of it
hi we redid our pennine camper canvas last year using this - http://www.fabricspray.co.uk/upholstery-spray-paint
We used the brown to cover some rust stains on lighter canvas and the beige to smarten up the other reddy coloured canvas. It did involve a lot of work but looked good when done and so far has been stable and not run etc.
we first cleaned the canvas with canvas cleaner to remove dirt and any water proofing. This involved cleaning with awning cleaner and then two compete rinses before drying completely.
Once dry we used the spray dye - make sure you shake can thoroughly and practice applying on scrap canvas first. We sprayed the canvas but then also used a sponge and some dye sprayed into a plastic dish to even up the spraying by rubbing it all in and to get into the corners etc.
This is then left to dry and then we applied a second coat with the sponge only to even it all off before drying again. finally when dry we then reproofed the whole canvas using fabsil.
Using a similar colour to the original canavas ie blue or green I should imagine will give even better results as I said we have the orangy/reddy pennine so finding a match to the original clour was difficult.
I was just wondering if you'd had any issues after using upholstery dye with colour run? I'm wanting to cover rust stains on my Conway Canterbury DL trailer tent and wondered if it had lasted ok?
