Investigating the DFDS offer for free Caravans on some routes - find that this does not include Trailer Tents
Apparently 'in their system they are 2 separate vehicles'
I noticed that a few years ago when we had the folding camper. I tried entering the trailer details as if it was a caravan ie tick the box for caravan and put the size details in and it came up as a free crossing. I didn't book in the end but if challenged I would have said that according to Trigano the folding camper was a "caravane pliante" so I had done nothing wrong. It would have been worth a try and if it didn't work I suppose I could have just paid the extra fare.
a vehicle equipped for living in, typically towed by a car and used for holidays.
to me that covers tin tops, FCs and TTs
