Hi, we bought an old conway trailer tent last year. Took us ages to get it all up.. Nearly 2 hours! Anyway, do any of you do overnights in your trailer tent, maybe without the huge awnings? Is it quicker to unzip say the huge part and just have the smaller awning? I also need to get new mattresses, anyone got ideas of ed sizes and if they have to be a certain depth?

We've used just the main cabin for a weekender, it was OK. we have 2 piles of stuff, the second pile is the full week stuff.

If you are stopping off on your way somewhere, then when you pack just make sure all the stuff for the week is easily identifiable and can be removed.

You'll need somewhere to store it (the awning and such) we were able to leave it at home, but if you're on your way for a week or 2 then you may struggle as the car boot might be full??

you may wish to consider an underbed pup tent to store your things in.

Sorry, bit of a long winded answer, but it will involve planning and organising properly, but the main cabing would be ok just for a stop over

We have a folding camper, so not sure if this little tip is applicable or not. But here goes, I leave the inner tents in (just un-hook from the roof poles before folding camper down) and curtains in. They are a little crumpled when you fold the camper out, but saves a good 15 - 20 mins (especially guessing which curtains go where). Oh and I leave bedding on the beds (not the duvets as they are too thick, but sheets can stay on no problem so less time making beds on site.

Hi, we've just bought a Conway Oxford, with literally everything thrown in! Gave it a trial put up today, bit of a faf first time, but easier than we expected! We haven't tried the awning yet, but as Paulyk74 has said, we think we will probably just use the first part of the awning for weekend breaks, and take everything for longer stays.
Can't wait for our first weekend away :)
Found folding it all back down the hardest part :o
Any tips or pointers from you experienced peeps will be much appreciated

Don't have the Oxford, but it looks huge, with that your never going to get it to be super quick.

Make sure next time you erect, all the poles are colour coded with electrical tape and when you fully extend all the poles, mark them with a perm marker, that way next time you'll know where to extend to.

Sort your awning and poles into seperate bags and number them in order you will need them So bag 1 Bag 2 and so forth.

I have all my guy ropes with carabiners on the ends, that way I can hook them on and off really quickly, this stops them geting in the way, and if they are wet (they take longer to dry than canvas), I can remove them and store them seperately.

Have a plan, make everyone have their own little job, our kids build all the furniture whilst I put up and peg out. Definitley pack your sense of humour, helps massively and wine, def wine

Cheers Paulyk74!
Previous owners have two separate pole bags, didn't think to check wether they were colour coded.
Checked the awnings for obvious reasons, and it looks like the extended awning has never, if rarely, been used! Looks brand new!
Took us longer to actually fold back down... Three attempts, lol, but previous owners reckon that after a few goes it gets quicker.
Lovely bit of kit though.
And yes, the girls WILL have their allotted tasks, and there will be a plentiful supply of vino collapso to hand!!
