Does anyone know some good quality sites with good beaches near by somewhere on the south coast (Devon or Dorset)

 If you travel a bit further you have four mile of golden sand at Hayle in Cornwall with several sites along it.

Yeah there is a site called beachside at hayle in cornwall , lovely camp site - with direct access to beach with soft white sand and sea beautiful turquoise.  pure bliss.
