It is those who are looking to get a "good" bargain that pay the price to these scammers, and loose a lot of hard earned £££ in the process,a process that could well put them off going for another one through fear of getting caught out again, to the more cautious and wary buyer these people tend to stand out like a sore thumb and should be brought to peoples notice.... Why do these scammers "dwell " in the outer reaches of Scotland
------------- That's not a dog....... That's a Schnauzer
I have a friend who got scammed on a converted Mercedes. Most intelligent man you'll ever meet yet do utterly stupid. Was given the story of van cost £10k conversion cost £5k, just split up with other half so just want to get rid of it, go £5k ...... Lol .
So he said ok, and can I call which they refused to give number out only e mail, he fell for it ( can't believe) and said if paid £5k asap through a e bay link which was a fake, they'll deliver lol.
So after selling a van worth £15k for £5k and not giving address or telephone number and clicking on a link they sent him and paying the £5k, he's still waiting for it to be delivered. That was other a year ago now.
How stupid are some people!
------------- Up there for thinking, down there for dancing. 😎
MrT, my dad came across a very similar story on another caravan classifieds site.
I have to paste in the email reply he received, I couldn't believe their audacity. Bare in mind that this is for a van worth around £20k and most dealers would give at least £10-12k for it as a trade in (I would have thought.
"Hi ,
The caravan is still for sale and I will include all the accessories that we have it it. eg. gas bottle, water tank, new awning that we didn`t even unpacked £300 value and a lot more. This caravan has full service history and all documentation is present including CRIS, all registered in my name I did the change of name just a few weeks ago. It has been stored in undercover storage from new so the exterior is perfect. My husband died 2 months ago and I was left with it and an unpaid mortgage that is due next week. The final price is not negotiable: £5295. If you agree I can send you the link to my private auction on eBay so you can buy it from there since I all ready had a buyer last week who came up with some fake notes. I don`t really trust someone else to come around my house. Please note that you will be able to check directly on ebay the registration and all the information about it including a HPI check, they have checked and saw that there's no finance or other problems with it..As soon as you will confirm the payment to eBay, I will proceed with the delivery without any additional costs for you. This way you will actually pay for van after reception and inspection, considering that the funds will be held and released to me only after you accept and confirm the delivery. Do you think a 7 days inspection period will be enough? Within this time frame you have to decide if you purchase it or not. If you decide against the purchase you will be fully refunded without any added charges to your account. The vehicle will be returned to me if you reject it upon inspection, but I honestly doubt this will happen.
Please let me know if you want to proceed.
Thank you"
Now I am sure there may be someone genuine out there in this situation but this had SCAM written all over it for me.

Feel nostalgic (probably the wrong word) for the trailer tent, but love the caravan. "Camping" all year round is fantastic.
