Has anyone used the bed steady on the back of the pennine pathfinder as a bike rack? I am sure I have seen this done somewhere.....looks like a good option?
This is a slightly earlier version of what I use ... Thule roof carrier bolted sideways onto the bed support sliding bar ... drilled a couple of new holes in the sliding bar so that the locating pins can hold the bar at the correct position .... a bit less than the bed support requirement.
I do have a light board, which I can sling across the bike .... though didn't use this for a couple of years, and no problems with police in France, Germany, Austria, Italy or Spain. At night, I rigged a couple of led bike lamps to shine across it (once) .... lighting is pretty visible through the spokes et al.
I got done by the motorway cops outside Southampton for having my number plate obscured AND my brake light obscured.
The use of these is widespread but illegal if they obscure these things.
It was interesting the number of police vehicles that had previously overtaken in the years prior to it.
