Evening all,

I'm in the process of purchasing a 2010 Countryman and wondered what wheelclamps or hitch locks people use. I'm looking those which are Secured by Design to meet insurance requirements.

The wheels are 14 in alloy. I've just realised I don't know what hitch it has, so will find out.

What ever I buy needs to be easy to install.

Would be grateful for your suggestions. I've looked on some websites but there seems to be lots to choose from.

Thank you.

We have both "Apache" Hitchlock and Wheelclamp, the hitchlock simply hinges open and closed surrounding the hitch and release lever, it is secured by a padlock, obviously the higher quality the padlock used the better the security.

The wheelclamp is adjustable but doesn't have to fit the wheel perfectly, even an inch or so play all around still leaves the device secure, three "U" shaped arms fit over the tyre and lock onto a plate in front of the wheel, this is then covered by an outer plate which is locked in place with a rather unaccessible barrel lock.

As far as insurers go our first quote wanted details of security devices but the second quote we got (cheaper) didn't have any stipulations regarding security devices and that one was underwritten by Lloyds.

Thank you for your messages. I have purchased a Maypole hitchlock and that seems to fit okay. Haven't bought a wheelclamp yet but its on my shopping list.
