I am fitting a zip to a porch awning for going onto the pathfinder, i am going to be sewing it onto the bead , but do i need to remove the stuff from the inside of the bead.

No,and nor do you need to sew the zip directly to the awning. It may be easier to attach the zip to double edged beaded tape.
