I struggle to connect to trailer electric plug to the car towbar electric plug socket.

Is there a special way to it?

I align the connection at the bottom with so that it can only go in one way.

then try a push it straight as possible once align.

This is very hit and miss?

Take awhile to get this to connect.

nope not normally a problem at all, perhaps you need to replace both connectors?

Have a look at your plugs there may be one or two of the prongs bent stopping it sliding in.

Little paws, have you successfully connected the trailer plug before? I wonder if the trailer is new and you have a different connector? The newer ones have 13 pins.

If it is the newer style, then push the plug in and rotate the outer collar clockwise to lock it secure the pins properly in place. You should then be able to see a round disc on the top to confirm all is good.
