We have a Pennine Countryman and tow it with a 2L petrol engined Ford Mondeo . We also have a roof box. This gives us plenty of storage space for all the 'essential' stuff we have to take plus the two of us and little Fido. It tows so well that it is easy to forget that the trailer is there.

The car does around 35mpg but this goes down to around 30mpg with the roof box and trailer.

On the last campsite we stayed on in France the most popular tow car was... you guessed it!
